Getting to know Miya Xilya Edwards

Hi there, I'm Miya! Hello and welcome! My name is Miya Edwards, and I am a licensed professional clinical counselor (LPCC) in California. I am based out of the Inland Empire and provide telehealth therapy throughout the entire state. I work with adults to address anxiety, self-esteem, identity issues, grief, and depression, using narrative therapy to help each person develop a preferred story for themselves. I earned my Master's in Counseling from California State University, San Bernardino, which has equipped me with the skills and knowledge to support my clients effectively. My approach varies depending on the person, as there is no one-size-fits-all scenario. Therapy is tailored to you, but it is always delivered from a holistic, person-centered, collaborative, and comprehensive perspective. My specialty focus is on the adult population, at any age. Each phase of life brings different growth and changes, which can result in anxiety, stress, career burnout, relationship issues, and identity struggles. My counseling training is unique in that I practice narrative therapy. When people talk about a problem, they often begin telling a story, and the problem is woven into that story. My role is to guide you through developing a meaningful new story that you prefer, empowering you in a holistic, integrative way. I believe it is imperative that each person I work with knows they are the experts in their own lives. My role as a therapist is to facilitate opportunities for growth and change by providing guidance. This puts me in a nonjudgmental, calm, and personable position to ensure therapy is focused on your needs. Therapy is almost like a form of art but with storytelling. It is a beautiful process to witness someone have a moment of clarity or a new reflection. I have been drawn to this career for as long as I can remember, always admiring the “helpers” of the world and their ability to make change.
