Moira Maclean-Wideman, LMHC

Psychotherapist
MA
Hi, I’m Moira! I specialize in working with adults whose trauma experiences continue to affect their daily lives. Many of the people I work with are highly capable, but feel stuck, overwhelmed and exhausted from carrying the pain of their past. Trauma may show up as anxiety, depression, disordered eating, substance use, or a sense of disconnection from the body. I hold an M.A. from Boston College and a B.S. from Southern Oregon University. Outside of work, I enjoy traveling, reading, creative writing, beading, and photography. If you are seeking a collaborative therapist who honors your lived experience and understands both the personal and systemic dimensions of trauma, I invite you to reach out.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I integrate evidence-based, trauma-focused approaches tailored to each client's needs. My work emphasizes emotion regulation, body awareness, and relational safety, while supporting you in building insight and sustainable coping skills. My expertise is in treating PTSD and trauma, anxiety, depression, disordered eating, substance use, and obsessive-compulsive disorder. My practice is social justice informed and grounded in an anti-oppression framework. I attend to the ways in which race, culture, sexuality, gender identity, and systemic oppression shape our experiences of trauma and healing. I strive to offer a space where clients feel respected, affirmed, and understood within their full context. I look forward to supporting you on your healing journey to being more present, grounded, and content.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I work with adults and offer a thoughtful, collaborative approach to trauma treatment. My work with clients has often been described as grounding, supportive and collaborative. I take time to build safety and trust, move at a pace that feels manageable to you, and center your goals and values. I use a number of therapy approaches, including Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Narrative Exposure Therapy, Relational-Cultural Therapy, person-centered, and feminist modalities. I adapt my therapy approaches to each individual client, based on their needs, preferences, and treatment goals.
