“Monique worked with my husband and I for 3 years. We loved working with her as she is very good at staying neutral and nonbiased as we shared our experiences. It is clear her goal is to guide her clients into thriving as a couple rather than just individuals. Under her guidance we were able to work on our communication skills and feel supported outside of our sessions. I have recommended her many times over the years to my friends and will continue to do so!”

Getting to know Monique Feig

I focus on helping people reconnect with their inner resources, community, and innate wisdom to become more aligned with the relationships and dreams they desire. I work with individuals to help separate themselves from the beliefs and stories that cause them to suffer. Together, we gain insight into the conditions and ideas that overpower and prevent them from living the life and relationships they want. I am very passionate about working with couples and families to help them escape patterns of blame and conflict. My work with couples centers on the problems that prevent them from having their preferred relationship and understanding how they get pulled into habitual ways of relating. I take a leadership role in couples therapy and help couples develop relational skills to create their preferred relationship. I have experience working with LGBTQ couples as well as bi-racial and multicultural couples. I use an integrative approach to therapy, tailored to people’s needs and personality. I believe therapy is a collaborative process, and I strive to have conversations that inspire people to become clearer about what they want their life and relationships to look like moving forward. My own life and 15 years of experience in the entertainment industry have given me an intimate understanding of the challenges that artistic professionals, couples, and parents face. I also have first-hand experience with the potential stressors that arise when living in a different culture and country. I hold a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University. I am a Registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist currently working under the supervision of a licensed practitioner. My CA license number is 124183, and my current employer is Larry Zucker.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My approach is warm, creative and intuitive. My preference is not to simply use labels to describe people’s experiences, but rather look at the entirety of people’s contexts and encourage them to see how they can use their own strengths and resources to help them navigate and improve their suffering. I am willing to give people homework or make specific behavioral changes outside of therapy, if that approach resonates with them. I encourage people to provide feedback if my particular approach or intervention isn't working and I work collaboratively to find an approach that makes sense and works for them.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

The first 1-2 sessions are typically an exploration - exploring the reason for seeking therapy and working to understand what conditions have contributed to the current problems. Further sessions may explore family dynamics, traumatic history, cultural and religious background, health problems, various life stressors and relationships that are causing people to suffer. We notice somatic or bodily sensations that may be contributing to people's current experience. I help people slow down their nervous system and work towards better self-regulation so they can cope with the problems they face. This is particularly important when it comes to couples and family therapy as emotional regulation is necessary for clear and healthy communication. I am very solution-focused and always seeking ways to help people gain access to their own voice and power so they can create the life they dream of.
