Hello, I'm Monique Knight. As an author, mother, wife, healer, and perpetual learner, my journey to becoming a Licensed Professional Counselor has been anything but linear. I graduated from Cornell University in 1997 with a degree in African American Studies, and it was through a winding path that I discovered my true calling in mental health. Along the way, I found the transformative power of emotional regulation, coping-skill building, and mindfulness, especially as remedies to trauma. These elements form the cornerstone of my therapeutic approach today. In my practice, I specialize in adolescent and teen mental and behavioral health, family relationships, intimate and romantic relationships, life transitions, perinatal support (including pregnancy, prenatal, and postpartum), sex and intimacy issues, stress, and trauma. I believe in creating a safe, supportive space where clients can explore their feelings, develop new coping strategies, and ultimately, heal and grow. One of my proudest achievements is my book, 'The Secret Sauce: Creating a Marriage That Lasts - The Workbook.' It's designed to help committed couples learn the skills necessary to build and maintain successful partnerships. I bring this same passion for fostering healthy relationships into my therapy sessions, whether I'm working with individuals or couples. Today, I also dedicate part of my practice to helping emerging professionals push beyond the traditional norms of therapeutic practice. I aim to inspire and guide them in creating monumental shifts and culturally relevant changes within the field of mental health. Outside of my professional life, I cherish my roles as a mother and wife. These personal experiences enrich my understanding and empathy, allowing me to connect deeply with my clients. I look forward to the opportunity to work with you and support you on your journey toward emotional well-being and personal growth.
