“I had an experience with a previous therapist recently but Myrna made me feel secure and reassured me that what I experienced was not okay. She heard me out and even helped me understand what type of therapy would work best for my situation. She immediately sent me resources once our session was over, and I immediately used them. She is very gentle and understanding. 10/10.”

Getting to know Myrna Marinik

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who specializes in working with adults who are struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, insomnia, chronic pain and/or chronic illness. Other areas of focus that I can help you with include relationship issues, anger, stress-management, physical and learning disabilities including ADD/ADHD, life-stage issues and self-esteem. My professional career began as a certified American Sign Language Interpreter in 2001 and quickly progressed into earning a Graduate degree in Social Work at the University of Texas at Austin. My training provided the experience needed to work in a community mental health clinic providing high quality mental health care to residents in Austin, TX for 6 years. My interests in whole health led me to San Antonio to work with chronic illness, transplant, and geriatric care for roughly 10 years. Along this journey, I have had the opportunity to work with multinational clients seeking refugee services, worked as the Associate Director for Student Accessibility Services at a private university and currently involved in a fulfilling career as a counselor to veterans of our Armed Forces. I enjoy staying busy. On my time off, I thoroughly enjoy spending time with my friends and family, always searching for my next adventure.

What should a new client know about working with you?

In counseling, you can expect a collaborative effort between you and I to identify goals and potential solutions. I think each individual has distinct strengths and I work to recognize, respect and expand current strategies of coping and help explore ways to improve your overall quality of life. The initial appointment will be used to gather basic information about you and your background while you learn more about the services available to you. Thereafter, sessions consist of 50-60 minutes focusing on your strengths and challenges. Sessions are tailored to meet the individual's language, needs, preferences, priorities, values, cultural expectations and goals for therapy.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.

I can only pick two choices for what stands out about Myrna’s therapy style, but I would also say it’s authentic, humorous, direct, empowering and open-minded. I never feel judged by Myrna. She is open to my thoughts and feelings and has made sure my solutions and path are genuine to my needs and nothing about it is cookie cutter. Since I’ve been seeing Myrna, my life has changed drastically for the better.
Myrna empowers me to make positive and challenging changes in my life. She is like an advisor and gives me outside perspectives to aid in making my decisions, and she adapts the sessions to be best suited for me, giving me tools that boost my motivation to be better. I always leave therapy sessions with her feeling hopeful and supported.
She is Amazing, I highly recommend her!
Myrna has been so comforting and supportive, and so easily provides great insight when delving into trauma. I appreciate how she focuses on the root cause of an issue instead of trying to put a bandaid overtop of a deep wound
