Nadia Merlo, LMFT

Psychotherapist
CA
Hello & Welcome! I am a bilingual (Spanish)/bi-cultural (Central American) Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist in California. I hold a Master's degree in Clinical Psychology from Notre Dame de Namur University. With 6 years of clinical experience, I have treated children, at-risk adolescents, adults, and families in settings such as in-home, school-based (K-12), telehealth, pediatric clinics, and private practice. My work addresses symptoms including anxiety, depression, ADHD, behavioral issues, divorce, interpersonal relationships, grief, self-esteem, trauma, and family conflicts such as domestic violence. I have a passion for helping, inspiring, and empowering others to identify their strengths and capabilities. I believe therapeutic support can help individuals find the resiliency needed to navigate life's challenges, and I would be honored to collaborate with you on your path to growth and healing. My approach to therapy is flexible and tailored to each client's needs. I provide a safe environment with reflective listening and use various therapeutic modalities to bring clarity and insight. My primary orientation is cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), which emphasizes recognizing how thoughts impact behaviors and changing negative thoughts to positive ones to promote better outcomes. I also utilize psychodynamic therapy to resolve current concerns by focusing on their origins. Additionally, I use solution-focused therapy to explore what can be done differently by leveraging existing skills, strategies, and ideas-rather than focusing solely on the problem. I believe I have a natural ability to relate and connect with others, having experienced various trials myself. My objective within therapy is to help individuals feel supported while working together to develop a treatment plan with attainable goals that lead to a healthy and fulfilling life.
