Getting to know Nahema Moore

I believe therapy doesn’t have to feel stiff or intimidating. My approach is collaborative, practical, and grounded in helping clients make meaningful changes in their lives and relationships. I strive to create a supportive, nonjudgmental space where clients feel heard, respected, and empowered to explore what’s really going on beneath the surface. I work with individuals across the lifespan, with a special focus on men, teens, and older adults, as well as couples navigating relationship and marriage challenges. I also have Level 1 training through the Gottman Institute and enjoy helping partners strengthen communication, understand conflict patterns, and rebuild trust.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Clients often describe my style as direct, supportive, and down-to-earth. I’m collaborative and engaged, and I focus on helping you understand what’s happening in your life right now. Not just why it’s happening, but how to move forward in a way that feels realistic and sustainable. I especially enjoy working with clients who may have been told to “just deal with it,” who feel overlooked, or who haven’t always had space to talk openly about their experiences. I don’t believe in judgment or clichés. Therapy with me is about honest conversations, mutual respect, and building tools that actually work outside the therapy room.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

In our initial sessions, I focus on getting to know you. Your goals, concerns, strengths, and what led you to seek therapy. Together, we’ll clarify what you’d like to work on and develop a plan that feels tailored to your needs. Sessions are conversational and interactive. I use evidence-based approaches while keeping therapy practical and engaging. For couples, sessions may include exploring communication patterns, identifying sources of conflict, and learning concrete strategies to improve connection and understanding. As therapy progresses, we regularly check in on what’s working and adjust as needed. My goal is for you to leave sessions with greater clarity, insight, and tools you can apply in your everyday life.
