Psychotherapist
FL
Welcome to Rula and my Rula bio. This is an important step you are taking in self-care. I understand therapy can be uncomfortable, especially at first; however, I will do my best to guide you through the process and help you find what you are looking for. Your needs and goals for therapy will be defined and met. If you are not sure what you want from therapy, but just feel like talking to someone, that is perfectly okay, too. We can figure it all out as we go. My training includes psychoanalytic, psychodynamic, cognitive behavioral approaches, and couples therapy. I look forward to helping you obtain the most out of your therapy session by creating a safe space for you to express any thoughts, feelings, and concerns you may wish to share. My approach As a student of psychoanalytic studies way back in the 1980s and 1990s, I have learned how to engage and understand people. Through the years, I have developed a style that includes exploration of your history and family dynamics, as well as current situations that are troubling, confusing, and/or downright frustrating to you. My technique is psychodynamic, as well as behavioral. I will recommend behavioral strategies to you if I believe they will help. My goal is to make our meetings as comfortable and natural as possible. I understand the hesitancy people feel when thinking about starting therapy. Many families don't talk about feelings, or they keep secrets about themselves. When feelings are not discussed at home, therapy may feel scary, or at the very least intimidating. There is no rush to talk about anything you don't want to talk about. I am here for you and will value your needs. I have no agenda, except to understand you and help you obtain what you came here for. My focus My client focus includes high-functioning teens, adults, and couples experiencing mild to moderate mood issues and relationship problems. Mood issues can be depression, anxiety, or panic attacks.
