Whether this is your first time seeking therapy or you have previous experience engaging in the therapeutic process, I applaud you in your journey and would love to make the process a meaningful and productive one for you. With over 30 years of experience in the mental health field, I approach each individual with empathy, active listening, and evidence-based techniques. I enjoy helping others find healing and growth to overcome challenges and build fulfilling lives. My approach Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) is the main therapeutic technique I use in counseling that focuses on changing negative thought patterns and behaviors to improve mental well-being. I also utilize motivational interviewing to resource one's strengths and drive for change. The therapeutic relationship is based on mutual respect and understanding and unique to each individual's needs. Together, we will address goals and strategies to reach them. My focus Life can be challenging at times. I have experience working with multiple issues such as teen and adult substance abuse, ADHD, grief, depression, anxiety, life transitions, co-dependency, marriage conflict, and parent-child relational problems. As your therapist, I will work with you to identify what a life of fulfillment looks like for you and support and empower you in reaching your goals. My communication style Communication is key in the therapeutic relationship. I use empathy, active listening, mutual respect, and a non-judgmental approach to develop and foster trust and enhance the client/therapist relationship. My journey to mental healthcare I have always had the desire to help others and have been drawn to human behavior and mental health. While working in a substance abuse residential setting, I found it especially rewarding to watch patients recover through a spiritually based program using the tools of therapy to tap into their spirituality to obtain joy and recovery that was elusive to them for so long.
