Psychotherapist
MD
Hi there, I'm Naomi! Hello, my name is Naomi Berkenbilt, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I earned my Master?s in Social Work from Bryn Mawr Graduate School of Social Work and Social Research. I work with people who are truly committed to their own healing. My therapeutic approach is to start where you are right now and focus on your goals and how to reach them. As we collaborate, my role is to help guide you. From childhood and adolescence to adulthood and elder years, my focus is you. My approach In my work, I often begin with psychoeducation about the polyvagal system. We use movement and breathing techniques to learn how our bodies respond to stress. From there, we can move in many directions. I am IFS-informed and work with parts toward healing. I also support individuals through exposure therapy. The use of imagery and meditation, as well as somatic-informed work, assist my guidance toward healing. My focus I work with a variety of clients. My experience includes a strong connection to the LGBTQIA+ population, as well as individuals suffering from trauma for various reasons and those struggling with grief and loss. I have extensive experience working with individuals with autism and ADHD?whether adults seeking consultation to better understand how to navigate the world, children with autism, or parents seeking support and ideas to understand their children?s needs and consult on how best to reach them. My communication style I create an environment of acceptance, rich in verbal imagery. If you are ready to go deep, I can support you. Depending on your needs, we can talk deeply, brainstorm problems, and work on self-regulation through movement, art, and meditation. My journey to mental healthcare I have had a sensitivity to the struggles of others since I was very young. I find I am able to see multiple perspectives on many issues and have insights that are not always obvious. This skill brought me to the possibility of being a therapist.
