Natalie Stephens, LPCC

Psychotherapist
CA
Hi there, I'm Natalie! My approach is trauma-informed, warm but direct (with a little humor sprinkled in). Clients who seek out my care are ready to remove the barriers in their life caused by trauma. We do this together as a team using CBT, DBT, Brainspotting, Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, and somatic interventions. My focus I work to assist individuals in breaking down the barriers in their life created by trauma. I want my clients to feel strong and supported, empowered and educated. My approach We are all the same, but different. We triage what you as an individual want to work on then find the evidence based tools that are shown to be effective. I believe that you can heal from trauma, you just haven't found the tools that are best for you yet. My communication style I'm validating and affirming, but will still challenge you to see things from different angles. I am warm but direct. I ask for feedback from you frequently to encourage your confidence in sharing your needs. It is important to me that you are getting what you want out of our sessions and feel educated about the interventions we are using. My goals for you We triage. When you are healing from trauma you have long term goals which get interrupted by daily triggers. Things will be going great -then poof- it feels like you are back to square one. This is normal! Some sessions are focused on the long term goals and some are focused on immediate interventions. Our first session A first session with me is gathering history and exploring how I can help. I review your paperwork before we begin our first session so I have a clear understanding of your background. We work at a pace that respects both your hope and your hesitation, honoring the parts of you that feel tired, guarded, or unsure.
