Getting to know Natalie Wingard

I work with adults who are navigating addiction, anxiety, depression, and major life transitions. Whether you’re dealing with substance use or behavioral addictions such as gaming, I understand how overwhelming it can feel when something that once felt enjoyable slowly begins taking over your daily life. Addiction impacts relationships, mood, responsibilities, and your sense of self—and you don’t have to face that alone. With over four years of experience working with drug addiction, as well as personal insight into how gaming and online communities can become coping mechanisms, I offer a judgment-free space where you can explore the real-life challenges you’re trying to escape from. My goal is to help you rebuild balance, reconnect with yourself, and begin leveling up in the areas of life that matter most. Medicaid Clients PLEASE READ We Accept MEDICAID FOR TARRANT AND DALLAS COUNTY RESIDENTS ONLY. IF YOU LIVE OUTSIDE OF THOSE COUNTIES WE ARE NOT IN-NETWORK. We Do NOT accept Texas Children's, Community First, Community Health Choice

What should a new client know about working with you?

My style is warm, direct, and collaborative. I blend cognitive-behavioral strategies, motivational interviewing, and strengths-based approaches to help clients understand the emotional, behavioral, and environmental patterns that contribute to addiction or distress. I frequently use gaming metaphors and real-world language because it helps clients feel understood and makes the therapeutic work more relatable. Whether we’re discussing boundaries, triggers, or emotional regulation, I want you to feel like you have a teammate—not just a therapist—walking beside you. My approach is especially supportive for clients who appreciate creativity, authenticity, and clear goals that help them make steady progress in their real-life “quests.”

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Medicaid Clients PLEASE READ At Kenyatta Black Counseling we Accept MEDICAID FOR TARRANT AND DALLAS COUNTY RESIDENTS ONLY. IF YOU LIVE OUTSIDE OF THOSE COUNTIES WE ARE NOT IN-NETWORK. We Do NOT accept Texas Children's, Community First, Community Health Choice. Medicaid appointments have to be scheduled directly through the office. During our first session, we explore what brought you to therapy, what challenges you’re experiencing, and what goals you’d like to work toward. We look at the habits or “boss battles” that are showing up in your life, and we develop a personalized plan that focuses on improving emotional regulation, strengthening coping skills, and repairing the areas of life impacted by addiction, stress, or depression. In ongoing sessions, we focus on understanding the underlying issues driving your behaviors, identifying triggers, building healthier routines, and developing tools that support long-term change. You can expect a supportive, honest, and down-to-earth environment where growth happens step by step—and where victories, big or small, are celebrated.
