Dr. Nathaniel Wagner, PhD, LMHC

Psychotherapist
IN
Dr. Nathaniel Wagner is a seasoned psychotherapist specializing in the intersection of high intelligence and emotional well-being. With a PhD from William & Mary and a Master’s from East Tennessee State University, he provides an intellectually engaging environment for adults and couples who are self-aware but feel stuck in "analysis paralysis." Dr. Wagner understands that intelligent people don't need to be told what to think; they often need help exploring how to move beyond knowing what to do to actual change. His approach is collaborative and evidence-based, integrating ACT, Narrative, and attachment-based therapies (EFT/Gottman) to help clients navigate anxiety, depression, and complex relationship dynamics. Rather than just "talking about" problems, Dr. Wagner works to deconstruct the patterns that cause mental fatigue. He helps clients bridge the gap between logical insight and emotional integration, turning high self-awareness into a tool for resilience and deeper connection.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I work collaboratively using an integrative strengths based approach. In sessions we will work together to support healing in your thoughts, emotions, and interpersonal patterns. The combination of skills, and new awareness you will gain regarding your struggles will help you build a resilience to reduce your need to continue any counseling in the future.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Our time together is for you, and we will focus on the areas that are bothering you right now or that you want to focus on. Your experience of safety is important, and while discussing some challenges may seem scary, I will help you feel safe, and we will move at a speed you can handle.
