Psychotherapist
GA
Hi there, I'm N'Dia! My name is N'Dia Smith, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a Master's in Social Work from Clark Atlanta University. I have worked in several settings providing direct practice and support to children and families over the years. I am currently employed full-time as a Social Emotional Support Social Worker in the school setting and work part-time as a therapist. In both settings, I most often work with clients who are experiencing significant transitions in their lives. Whether it's a new mental health or health diagnosis, a new career, a new relationship, or a recent divorce, I find joy in helping you navigate your challenges and find happiness in your new situation. My approach The therapeutic approach I most commonly use is person-centered therapy. With this modality, I use talk therapy to highlight strengths and challenges and help clients achieve their desired goals. My focus Although much of my work centers around children, specifically adolescents, I also work extensively with parents and adults to help them navigate their children's life-altering transitions and find a new normal within the family dynamic. My communication style My sessions can seem informal, as if you were sharing your most important information with a friend. I want my clients to feel comfortable and know they will not be judged for anything discussed during our sessions. My journey to mental healthcare What attracted me to becoming a therapist is my love for helping people problem-solve. Often, people already have the answers they seek but just need a little help understanding how to get there. My first session with you During the first session, I like to get to know my clients and understand what led them to therapy. I also like to identify a short-term goal and a long-term goal that they would like to work on during our sessions.
