Getting to know Newell Young

I am an existentially oriented psychotherapist with 25 years of experience treating a diverse range of people in various settings. I hold a Master's in Social Work from Simmons University, a Master's degree from the University of Rochester, and a Bachelor's degree from Vassar College. In my private practice, I find I work most effectively with individuals who are open to mindfulness and other spiritual modalities. I aim to support you as you navigate life's challenges by offering empathy and understanding while maintaining a strategic, solution-focused approach. Our work together will be most effective when we develop a mutual understanding of how I can best assist you with your unique challenges. I draw on a wide array of resources in my work with clients, including poetry, art, music, philosophy, and literature. I have found that openness to art and other wisdom and learning traditions can foster personal growth and help normalize the human struggle.

What should a new client know about working with you?

A different way of conceptualizing their problems. A sense that they have been truly heard and understood. A sense that I will partner with them to make a plan and move toward change and a resulting greater sense of ease.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
