Nicole Macias, LCSW

Psychotherapist
CA
I am a licensed clinical social worker dedicated to providing compassionate and evidence-based therapy. With experience in crisis and acute care, I have honed my skills in helping individuals through challenging times. As a veteran who has worked closely with the veteran population in therapeutic settings, I have seen firsthand the impact of crisis and trauma on individuals who have served or who are currently serving. My experience in the United States Navy and my work as a licensed social worker have given me a unique understanding of the challenges veterans face. I am a mother, a wife, and trying to juggle it all is hard, I get it, and that is why I am committed to providing compassionate and informed support. My approach Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that is very effective in my practice for treating anxiety, stress, chronic pain, low self-esteem, and diminished self-worth. I implement cognitive behavioral therapy to help you recognize unhelpful thought patterns and reshape them so you feel more in control of your thoughts and emotions. If you find yourself unable to regulate your emotions, Dialectical behavioral therapy may be more your speed. Using mindfulness, relaxation, interpersonal skills, and learning distress tolerance can aid you in regulating your emotions more effectively, even when faced with challenges. Somatic experiences are something everyone has, but not everyone understands. When you have emotions, negative or positive, they are felt in different ways in your body. Some have an impact that can be debilitating long-term. I use somatic therapy to assist in gaining a better understanding of your body as it relates to your emotions, and how to identify feelings in your body that indicate a negative emotion is coming before it hits you like a truck. My focus I am very passionate about working with veterans, those still serving, new mothers and seasoned mothers, men and women who are dealing with real life.
