Getting to know Nicole Ramirez

I have been a licensed clinical social worker in California and New Mexico since 2018. I graduated from San José State University with my Master’s in Social Work. I am a California native and identify as a queer Latina woman. I am certified in DBT, TF-CBT, and CBT. I have experience working in medical and psychiatric hospitals, community centers, and nonprofit/grassroots organizations. I tend to use a more solution-focused approach, feminist theory therapy, and storytelling/narrative therapy to help clients see that the session is their time to tell their story. I prefer to work with young adults ages 16-25 and adults ages 25-50. My life philosophy is all about peace, love, and happiness. I feel that I bring those characteristics to the table when I work with anyone. A key component within the therapeutic relationship is for the client and me to be open-minded, honest, and nonjudgmental. My insight into life and hard times has helped me be a better mental health professional. The most interesting and profound lesson I have learned as a social worker is not being afraid to speak up and help those who need to hear their voices. I want to give everyone that platform to empower them to be confident and comfortable with asking for what they need and want.
