Nicole Starr, LMFT

Psychotherapist
CA
My name is Nicole Starr, and I thank you for reading my profile! I have worked as a therapist for over 20 years, and my goal is to help you see things in a new or different way; to help you find a fulfilling relationship with yourself first and with others. I aim to help you explore perspectives that may bring relief to the pressures of being the best version of yourself in an ever-changing world. I offer support and insight as you seek a higher level of living while crafting a balanced and healthy whole person. I earned my Master’s in Counseling from Azusa Pacific University, which laid the foundation for my work in mental healthcare. My approach includes Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Family/Marital Therapy, Coaching, Culturally Sensitive practices, Family Systems, Interpersonal Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Evidence-Based Practices (EBP), Client-Centered Therapy, and Narrative Therapy. I work with individuals, couples, and families. My clients come from diverse backgrounds, which has allowed me to adapt uniquely to each client’s needs. I create a relaxed environment that allows clients to build rapport and foster trust and sharing. This is essential, as the information shared within therapy is sacred. I became a therapist to help people feel heard and validated. Too often, families or close connections do not allow individuals to feel supported. I’m driven by the need for people to feel wholly accepted and free, without pressure to conform to what others think. Pain is real, and I want to be a light in the darkness. Goal setting is done at a pace that suits the client’s needs and priorities. As a professional, I offer insight and suggestions if a client is stagnant or needs to be challenged, as change and discovery can be difficult to navigate.
