Nicole Wiesman creates a safe space for families by drawing from her tapestry of experiences and training, including a Master's in Counseling Psychology from North Park University, as well as expertise in dialectical behavior therapy, narrative therapy, and family systems therapy. What should a new client know about working with you?

I want to work with clients who are willing to commit to their progress, both inside and outside of sessions. During the intake process, we will discuss the current barriers your adolescent or family is facing. I will provide an overview of my process and give you space to determine if I am a good fit. If you are currently navigating school anxiety, school refusal, or chronic absenteeism, we will discuss your specific needs and how that therapeutic process may differ.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I approach family work with a deep sense of empathy and understanding for the unique challenges faced by individuals from diverse backgrounds. It's vital to actively incorporate cultural nuances into therapy. From my language to my interventions, I strive to create a safe and inclusive space where clients feel seen, heard, and validated. The initial intake session is typically filled with questions on both sides and will feel more "clinical." From there, I believe in getting to know the clients I work with, including their communication style and personality nuances, and collaborating on the best way to support them.
