Getting to know Nicole Wilson

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a Master's in Social Work from California State University, Long Beach, and over 10 years of experience in the mental health field. I utilize praise, patience, and a non-judgmental approach to help individuals overcome barriers and stigma associated with treatment. I incorporate Harm Reduction to meet individuals where they are in their stage of recovery. Using a Person-Centered Approach, I build rapport and form a strong therapeutic alliance. I apply Motivational Interviewing to help individuals discover their stage of change and work toward desired behaviors. I believe every individual has personal strengths that can be integrated into a Strength-Based Approach. I also utilize Exposure Therapy to encourage individuals to identify their fears and gradually introduce behavioral interventions. Understanding the importance of skill-building, I focus on Mindfulness, Distress Tolerance, Emotional Regulation, and Interpersonal Effectiveness through Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). Additionally, I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help individuals learn to address negative behaviors, emotions, and thoughts.
