Getting to know Nikolas Jones

Hello! I'm Nik. Sometimes in life, we can feel out of touch with ourselves or those around us. Life isn't easy, and despite what we feel like we should be doing or achieving, it doesn't always work out that way. Talk therapy is a great way to explore difficult feelings and get to the core of what hasn't been working for you and, more importantly, what will. I am a licensed marriage and family therapist with a Master's in Counseling from the University of San Francisco and 10+ years of experience in the mental health field. I have worked in myriad settings, from formal hospitals to college campuses, and have experience with a wide array of different clients. What I enjoy most is helping people explore the thoughts they don't share with others-the thoughts people are scared to explore out loud. Therapy is a process and should be approachable and malleable. My biggest strength is being welcoming in that process, helping folks feel like they are talking to someone they trust and easing any uncomfortable “formal authority” feelings people might have about attending therapy. Maybe you're feeling burned out, maybe you're anxious or depressed and don't know why. Maybe you've been told by others to go to therapy. Maybe you've had years of therapy and want to come back, or maybe you've never been and are reading this now feeling noncommittal and unseen. It doesn't matter why-I'm glad you're taking a step to get help, whether it is with me or another clinician. You deserve a consistent space to explore yourself, unjudged and free! If you think we might be a fit, hit me up and let's chat!

What should a new client know about working with you?

Building a trusting rapport is essential to positive outcomes in therapy. Of course, I want to know your goals and why you've come to therapy but I also want to get to know you, the person. I think my style can be described as a bit laid back but through that approachable feeling I will meet you where you are and we'll make your goals together. I love to check in often about how you think treatment is going for you and anything you'd like to see more of. Everyone is different and I like to make sure I bring energy and exploration that works for you. Like I said before, therapy should be malleable not a DSM workshop.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
