Nikole Gutierrez, LPC

Psychotherapist
TX
I began my path to becoming a therapist by earning a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a minor in Criminal Justice in December 2010 from the University of Texas at Brownsville. I furthered my education by receiving a Master of Education in Counseling and Guidance in December 2014 from the University of Texas at Brownsville. Beginning in January 2017, I became a Licensed Professional Counselor and in 2017 also became a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC). Additionally, I am a National Certified Counselor. My approach to therapy is typically eclectic because I believe that each individual is unique, and counseling techniques should be tailored to my client's presenting problems, needs, and goals. Not every therapy modality works for every client; therefore, as we explore your therapy goals, this will guide me in selecting the counseling approach I will utilize. The counseling approaches I use include, but are not limited to, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and other evidence-based methods. I have experience working with a variety of presenting problems, including anger, grief and loss, self-harm, depression, anxiety, mood disorders, intellectual disabilities, trauma, acculturation, adjustment, relationship issues, and abuse. With seven years of post-graduate experience in private practice, I am a dedicated mental health professional committed to helping my clients reach their goals and live happier, more fulfilling lives.
