Getting to know Noel Sherry

I am Noel Sherry, a compassionate and dedicated mental health therapist specializing in a wide range of mental health challenges, including anxiety, depression, bipolar disorders, eating disorders, PTSD, and more. I hold a Master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy and received my education at Berkeley City College. With years of experience, I am committed to providing a safe, empathetic space where you can explore and address the issues that matter most. I believe in a collaborative approach to therapy, working with you to unlock your potential and achieve lasting change. Together, we will work through your struggles, uncovering healthier ways to manage life's complexities while building on your personal strengths and resilience. Whether you're facing trauma, family difficulties, relationship struggles, or mental health challenges like ADHD or sleep disorders, I use evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Strength-Based Therapy to ensure you feel supported and understood. I deeply value the importance of mental health and am here to walk alongside you every step of the way.

What should a new client know about working with you?

When you choose to work with me, you’re not just getting a therapist – you’re gaining a partner in your mental health journey. I believe in creating a comfortable, non-judgmental space where you can express yourself freely. Whether you’re grappling with issues such as anxiety, depression, trauma, or relationship struggles, my goal is to offer a holistic approach tailored to your needs. We’ll focus not only on the challenges you face, but also on your strengths and resources, empowering you to take charge of your healing. I provide a compassionate environment where you will feel respected and valued as we work toward tangible progress and transformation.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My process begins with a comprehensive assessment where we take the time to discuss your unique history, challenges, and goals. Through this collaborative conversation, we’ll identify your primary areas of concern, whether it be anxiety, trauma, or relationship difficulties. From there, I customize our approach using effective modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Strength-Based Therapy, focusing on empowering you to make positive changes. As therapy progresses, we’ll continuously evaluate your progress and adjust the approach to best meet your evolving needs. My aim is to create a nurturing space where you feel comfortable to explore your emotions, tackle difficult issues, and work toward greater mental wellness.

He did not show up. I moved meeting and rushed through traffic as I was going through a crisis and Noel apparently forgot.

My call first got pushed back 3 hours and then I waited in the zoom for 35 minutes and he never joined

Very kind, informative, flexible and open to new ways of expressing my needs
Noel is an amazing listener, who directs helpful recommendations and tools.
Excellent at braking things down and recognizing issues fast.
I much appreciate Noel's manner of really listening and understanding before jumping to any conclusions or offering his wisdom. He seems truly insightful and caring.
My appointment went really well. I appreciated that I was able to talk about what was going on and was able to discuss immediate moves forward. The appointment concluded with me feeling like I had a plan for getting things under control. This was far different from my previous experiences trying to address my mental health because way back at that time all I did was talk about how I felt and nothing ever changed. But that's not how it went this time and has helped reframed what dealing with my mental health could be like.

It was solution focused and not solely me talking about my mental state. This gave me more hope for progress and wasn't as emotionally draining as spending the whole time saying this Is what is going on then being left with no direction. I think a more solutions-focused approach will be a key compared to healing
Dr. Noel is a great option for anyone who wants someone experienced and easy to talk to. He asks good questions, lets the conversation flow naturally, and takes the time to understand your history and what you are dealing with now. I recommend him and have already told a few people close to me about him. I enjoy my time with him!

Noel is a very experienced therapist and he has a different take on things which I love. I have learned a lot from him and would highly recommend him to everybody.
Noel is quirky, communicative, and adaptive, someone who tailors each session to what you need rather than sticking to a one-size-fits-all approach.

What a wonderful clinician. He really listened, but also asked thoughtful questions that made us feel confident in his methodology. This was only our first session, but so far we’d highly recommended Noel!
