Norman Gross, LICSW

Psychotherapist
MA
Norm Gross, LICSW, Massachusetts License 105646 I provide individual, couple, and family therapy to adults and adolescents. My approach I work to develop a therapeutic alliance with patients based on empathy, respect, trust, and validation. My theoretical framework is grounded in psychodynamic and object relations theory. I also find humor helpful with many individuals. My focus I am comfortable working with clients motivated to address obstacles affecting their relationship with themselves, others, and their sense of productivity. My communication style I strive to create an atmosphere of calm, safety, respect, validation, and empathy that allows clients to explore their thoughts, feelings, relationships, and life goals. My journey to mental healthcare My journey began as a teenager curious about my "inner world"; what my thoughts mean and why I feel the way I do. I also had stressful and confusing life experiences. I wanted to understand myself. This led me to therapy, study social and behavioral sciences in college, and eventually helping others. I discovered a talent for listening and helping others make sense of themselves. I really love what I do! Education I earned my Master’s in Social Work from Boston University School of Social Work. My goals for you From the outset, we collaborate on goals you want to work on during therapy. This could initially be something like, "I want to get along better with my parents." Other areas of focus may emerge as treatment evolves. My first session with you You can expect a warm, respectful invitation to start articulating what you want help with. I will ask questions to facilitate this conversation and encourage you to ask about my experience, how I do therapy, and any practical concerns you might have.
