Psychotherapist
TX
I’m Obi, a therapist who helps preteens, teens, and young adults make sense of what they’re carrying—stress, identity questions, trauma, or feeling like they have to hold everything together. I offer a space where you don’t have to perform. Together, we explore your story and build the skills you need to feel more grounded. My approach I view therapy as a space where your full self is welcome—your culture, history, identities, humor, grief, and questions. We slow down your story, understand how it was formed, and explore what parts you want to carry forward. I blend narrative therapy with CBT and DBT skills to help you cope, regulate, and create new patterns. My style is collabor My focus I work with preteens, teens, and young adults who feel overwhelmed by anxiety, depression, trauma, identity questions, family pressure, or the expectation to hold everything together. I’m especially passionate about supporting BIPOC and LGBTQIA clients who want a space where they don’t have to explain their culture, sexuality, or lived experience. My communication style My communication style is warm, honest, and collaborative. I’m gentle but direct—I name patterns, ask thoughtful questions, and help you explore what’s happening beneath the surface. I bring curiosity, compassion, and cultural awareness, creating a space where you feel supported, understood, and never judged. My journey to mental healthcare I became a therapist to understand both the science of suffering and the story behind it. With training in neuroscience and an MSW, and now as a doctoral student and NIH T32 Fellow studying health disparities, I bring research, empathy, and cultural awareness together to offer therapy that honors your full context. My goals for you I help clients set goals by first understanding their story, what they’re carrying, and what they want more—or less—of in their life.
