Psychotherapist
WI
I'm a licensed psychotherapist with 25 years in the field, and had the opportunity to retire from full-time work in administrative roles earlier this year. I've since returned to direct practice part-time, and am enjoying helping a small caseload of clients achieve their therapy goals via telehealth therapy. I'm engaged in this work as it's rewarding to me, and I truly enjoy helping individuals, couples and families work through problems and mental health challenges in their lives and achieve a better quality of life through counseling. I'd welcome the opportunity to work with you!

Getting to know Olin Kirk Yauchler

I'm a licensed psychotherapist with 25 years in the field, and had the opportunity to retire from full-time work in administrative roles earlier this year. I'd welcome the opportunity to work with you!

What should a new client know about working with you?

I tend to jump right in and help clients establish goals for therapy that are both measurable and achievable, and that can be accomplished in a relatively short period of time. I can typically work with clients to accomplish their designated goals within 3-6 months, so this is not a commitment to long-term therapy. Nor should it be, as therapy is intended to address challenges that get in the way of you achieving your best possible quality of life- not be be a routine part of your life. I use a combination of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, mindfulness, a little psychoeducation on neurobiology (nothing too heavy, just a basic understanding of our ability to rewire our brains and change patterns of negative thinking), and a few other strategies that have proven to be effective with clients over the years. I'll incorporate my lived experience as a husband of 25 years and parent of 3 adult children, as well as my knowledge of the field of Behavioral Health and the options for treatment available as needed. But overall I'm generally fairly casual and my clients typically find me easy to talk to- even those who are new to therapy.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

We'll start with your reasons for seeking therapy, and I'll give you the time you need to provide me all the background you think is important. From there I may gather some background information as needed to give me a fuller picture of yourself and your presenting challenges. But we'll quickly move to establishing some goals for therapy that are within your ability to achieve, and within a relatively short period of time. Low-hanging fruit, as I like to say! From there I'll be your coach, advisor and cheerleader as you work toward accomplishing the goals you've established, and I have a strong track record of discharging clients because they achieved everything they set out to accomplish in therapy and more. Looking forward to working with you!
