Getting to know Osvaldo Lomeli

Hi there, I'm Osvaldo! Hi, I'm Ozzie Lomeli, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a Master's in Social Work from the University of Southern California. I grew up in East Los Angeles, and early in my career, I tended to gravitate toward helping those who grew up in a similar environment. However, for the past 14 years, I've worked with a diverse range of clients, including adolescents, veterans, young adults, people struggling with addiction, and those on probation. I like using humor in my approach because laughter can be great for the "soul." My approach I tend to use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Solution-Focused Therapy; however, regardless of the therapeutic model I'm educated in, I find the connection I have with my clients supersedes any model. My focus I work well with adolescents, young adults, and people on probation. I've helped people dealing with anger issues, depression, anxiety, and addiction. My communication style I create a laid-back environment. I never come across as if I'm the "expert" in your life or here to "cure" you because I'm neither of those. Sessions with me feel more like talking to someone at a coffee shop, a park, or a gym. My journey to mental healthcare When I was in college, I thought I was going to be an engineer, but I kept gravitating toward psychology courses because I enjoyed learning about human behavior. I also believed in empowering others, especially those raised in the inner city. My goals for you I believe in setting concrete goals when starting therapy so we can measure and track progress-just like going to the gym. My first session with you During the first session, we'll introduce ourselves and see if we're a good match. I'll explain my approach and style, and together we can decide if we should move forward.
