Palmer Frankel, LMFT

Palmer Frankel, LMFT

Psychotherapist
CA
I have been a practicing therapist for over twenty years. Helping people move away from distress and into peace is a passion of mine. Choosing therapy is choosing health, and without your health, nothing can grow. My approach Cognitive Behavioral Coping Skills, insight-oriented work, and family relations. Spirituality and an existential perspective. Positive behavioral reinforcement—whatever has worked, do more of that. Care and success of self before trying to care for others. My focus I have experience working with adults who suffer from depression, frustration, anxiety, fear-based issues, and relationship challenges. My communication style I establish a relationship of understanding first. I then move into questions regarding what you want for yourself. We work on aligning your behavior and thoughts with your goals. My journey to mental healthcare It was always something I felt drawn to. I would buy psychology and self-improvement books in high school that were recommended on Donahue and other shows. In college, a professor encouraged me to read a list of psychology books for extra credit. I was naturally adept in psychology, so I decided to become a therapist. I earned my Master’s in Counseling from California State University, Northridge. My goals for you If you are not working on your stated goals, then we need to accept they may be goals you think you should have but do not. We will then work on what your authentic goals are. My first session with you Listening. I may listen for a few sessions because you may be in distress and need your story to be understood. I will then ask you what your goal for therapy is. What outcomes do you want from yourself?
