Pamela Carr, LPC

Pamela Carr, LPC

Psychotherapist
GA
I’ve been in the mental health field for about 20 years. I’m currently working with adult clients at a hospital outpatient facility in downtown Atlanta. I’ve worked with the substance abuse population, mental health, crisis, children, teens, LGBTQIA population, high-, middle-, low-, and no-income individuals and families, including the homeless. My approach I follow various theories based on an optimistic view of humanity, every individual has value, a non-judgmental environment, genuineness, and unconditional positive regard. My focus I'm uniquely equipped to support people who feel overwhelmed by life—those who are confused, struggling with substance use or caught in unhealthy or abusive relationships—because I’ve sat in both chairs: the client and the counselor. I offer a safe, non-judgmental space where you can talk openly, make sense of emotions, and know that you are heard. My communication style My communication style is warm, grounded, and deeply human. I speak with a calm, steady presence that helps people feel safe enough to open up, even when they’re confused, overwhelmed, or ashamed. I’m direct without being harsh, compassionate without becoming enmeshed, and honest in a way that builds trust rather than fear. My journey to mental healthcare I often tell patients that I was drawn to this work because I’ve lived through my own seasons of confusion, betrayal, and not knowing how to navigate life in a healthy or efficient way. For a long time, I didn’t have the tools, language, or support I needed, and that experience shaped me deeply. My goal is to offer others a path to accomplishment. My goals for you Because I have been both the client and the counselor, I understand how hard change can be, and I use that insight to offer steady encouragement, honest reflection, and practical coping tools that actually work in real life. My approach helps you feel supported, capable, and empowered to move toward healthier choices and a stable, grounded life.
