Hi there, I'm Pamela! My name is Pamela Corkum, and I have been a Social Worker for over 30 years. I hold a Master’s in Social Work from Smith College and maintain independent Social Work licenses in Massachusetts, Florida, and South Carolina. I have worked primarily with teens, adults, and seniors. My priority is providing a safe, warm, non-judgmental, and collaborative environment where we can build a strong therapeutic relationship. Through this alliance, we identify and address unhelpful patterns of thinking and behavior, leading to greater self-understanding, connectedness, and the breaking down of barriers so goals can be met. My approach My approach to therapy varies based on each client’s needs. Every modality I use is person-centered to meet clients where they are. Some of the approaches I incorporate include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma-Informed Care, Motivational Interviewing, Behavioral Activation, and Family Systems. These techniques help clients better understand how their thoughts and experiences influence their feelings and behaviors. Additionally, my work is solution-focused and strength-based, fostering greater self-awareness and equipping clients with the tools needed to make the changes they desire. My focus I typically work with teens, adults, and seniors around issues such as depression, anxiety, grief, loss, trauma, life transitions, relationship challenges, substance use, chronic medical illnesses, caretaker fatigue, and more. I am comfortable supporting clients with a wide variety of challenges and diagnoses. My communication style In my work with clients, I strive to create an open, non-judgmental, and safe environment. I take an inquisitive and curious approach, using warmth, compassion, empathy, and sometimes humor. I provide a welcoming space for clients to discuss whatever is important to them, to better understand their history, and what has or hasn’t worked in the past.
