Getting to know Patricia Elder

Have you labeled yourself as damaged goods, worthless, or with low self-esteem or self-worth? Have you behaved or made decisions as someone living under those labels? Have you experienced trauma and have limited or no support? Are you someone dealing with mother or father wounds? Are you a parent struggling to meet the demands of parenting or feeling emotionally unbalanced? Find out how I can support you. I am a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist, Licensed Mental Health Counselor, and nationally rostered Trauma Informed Child-Parent Psychotherapist. I hold a Master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Palm Beach Atlantic University. For 10 years, I have advocated for at-risk and inner-city populations. I specialize in supporting individuals, children, and families who have experienced significant stressors or trauma. Your work with me is a team effort that utilizes a holistic wraparound approach with evidence-based treatments (EMDR, CPP, CBT, etc.) to support your mental, emotional, and spiritual needs. You will be met where you are with empathy and understanding. As you begin to consider taking the necessary step to address your health needs, you may hear a voice trying to talk you out of the possibilities that await you. I name that voice FEAR. I challenge you to take a stand against fear by reaching out to learn about the services available to meet your needs.

What should a new client know about working with you?

You can expect to be an integral part of treatment. There are no agendas. Know that the space we create together will allow you to feel safe/secure in sharing the sacred parts of you needing to do the work you're here to do. I have a knack for being successful in connecting with individuals often labeled as "angry, unlikeable, difficult;" these amazing people were often reassigned to me in community mental health. I attribute this success to my ability to be patient, listen and see beyond the presentation of what people had to be in the world to survive. I absolutely love what I do. Know that in this space, you will be seen, known, and loved for who you are, who you had to be, and who you are becoming.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
