Hello, I'm Patricia. We all face numerous challenges in our lives, many beyond our control. How we react and respond will help determine resolutions and our sense of peace. One major issue that many people face is navigating relationships well, whether it be a significant other, families of origin, parenting challenges, or workplace relationships. My desire is to help individuals and families develop and improve skills to empower themselves to manage whatever difficulties they face. I believe that faith is an important aspect of life that can have a great impact on coming to terms with loss and finding one's true value and purpose. In 2004, I felt a calling to help others through a counseling vocation. In 2008, I graduated from Ashland Theological Seminary with a Master’s degree in Clinical Pastoral Counseling and am now a Licensed Clinical Counselor in the state of Ohio. I began my career working in a faith-based clinical private practice with a wonderful mentor and supervisor who greatly encouraged my growth as a practitioner for the next 10 years until her retirement. I worked another 2 years in a different agency before opening my own private practice. When COVID altered our world, I transitioned my practice to telehealth and shifted to part-time. Working from home allowed me to put more time into my other passion, breeding healthy, well-tempered, hypoallergenic dogs, many of whom have become therapy dogs and emotional support animals. I have trained three of my own pets as therapy dogs and used to bringing them to work with me, as well as visits to schools and nursing homes. I love working with adults and older adolescents using cognitive behavioral therapy to guide them to a realistic and positive perspective of themselves, their strengths, and their view of the world in which they live. In doing so, it is often helpful to uncover how past traumas have shaped and hindered their ability to freely grow to their full potential. I also enjoy helping people to build and improve their relationship skills, for example, communication skills, healthy boundary setting, and increasing empathy. I have completed Levels 1-3 of the Gottman Method for relationship counseling and utilized these skills when working with couples. If you are looking for support in navigating life's challenges, I am here to help. Let's work together to find the peace and empowerment you deserve.
