*** Out of Network - Cash Pay Only *** Patricia (Christina) Kantzavelos is a neurodivergent, spoonie (chronic illness warrior), and first-generation Licensed Clinical Social Worker licensed in California, Washington, and Oregon. She earned her Bachelor's and Master's in Social Work from the University of California, Los Angeles, and her Master's in Library and Information Science from San Jose State University. With 15 years of clinical experience, she has worked in diverse settings including outpatient and inpatient psychiatric services, acute inpatient hospital care, insurance case management, assertive community treatment, home health, hospice, applied behavioral analysis for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder, disaster mental health (humanitarian work), psychedelic-assisted therapy (ketamine), and private therapy and coaching. She is warm, interactive, and treats everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion, always striving to meet clients where they are. Patricia specializes in treating clients with chronic health conditions and trauma, including medical trauma, which she understands firsthand. Chronic medical conditions often bring significant challenges such as fear, anxiety, and medical PTSD, which can disrupt relationships and daily functioning. She believes that chronic illnesses are frequently rooted in trauma that triggers a chronic stress or fight-or-flight response, preventing the body from prioritizing healing. To address this, she employs various holistic, evidence-based treatment modalities and practice-based evidence, including EMDR, with an emphasis on mindfulness techniques, positive psychology, neural retraining, and strengths-based therapy. Additionally, she offers life coaching, case management, and elder and disability care planning and support. Patricia is also a writer and an award-winning gluten-free and health-conscious travel and lifestyle blogger.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Hello! I specialize in chronic health conditions/ illness and trauma, which I understand first hand. Chronic medical conditions (i.e. diabetes, dysautonomia, EDS, Lyme disease, Hashimoto’s, mast cell activation syndrome, vasculitis, Lyme disease, bartonella, CIRS, sickle cell disease, mold illness, etc.) often come with significant challenges, like fear, anxiety, grief, medical PTSD, and may interfere with relationships and daily function. I utilize various holistic evidence-based treatment modalities and practice-based evidence, contingent on each person’s needs and goals, with an added focus on mindfulness techniques, positive psychology, neural retraining, EMDR and strengths-based therapy.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

As a chronic illness warrior/ spoonie, I completely understand what it feels like to sit on the other side of the couch (or, screen), and how important it is to chat with someone who 'gets it.' We will work together to create a safe space and find the root cause of your dis-ease, and invite wellness and joy. From chronic illness, to chronic wellness.
