Patricia Obrien, LCSW

Psychotherapist
FL
Hi there, I'm Patricia! My name is Patricia OBrien, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (FL State LCSW SW22761) who has worked in social work since 2011. I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from San Diego State University and my Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Hawaii at Manoa. While in Hawaii, I was exposed to a different clinical scope that included a focus on cultural sensitivity, holistic healing, and collective culture, which I believe has shaped my therapeutic practice. My approach Some modalities I enjoy pulling from are CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), Strengths-Based/Client-Centered, and Solution Focused. I provide trauma-informed care and am LGBTQIA+-affirming. My focus I have a special interest in working with adolescents (12-17 years old) and the TAY (Transitional-Aged Youth; 18-26 years old) population; however, I routinely see individuals between the ages of 12 and 50. I have experience working in Child Protective Services and inpatient mental health hospitals, which has given me a unique perspective on issues associated with youth transitioning out of the home and into adulthood, as well as the ongoing challenges individuals face due to traumatic experiences. Areas of treatment include depression and other mood disorders, generalized anxiety, problems in adjustment, trauma, and difficulties with life transitions due to changes in health, career, or relationship status. My communication style Therapy with me is a collaborative, client-centered approach. Sessions tend to be more laid back and feel much more like conversations with a trusted friend. I want to create a nurturing environment that allows individuals to safely explore their history, develop skills to support themselves, and lean into the idea of “selfishness” in order to be the most authentic version of themselves.
