Paul Fisher, LMFT

Psychotherapist
CA
As a licensed therapist with more than thirty years of experience, I have the expertise to treat a variety of cases. I provide a caring and trusting environment, assisting clients in making positive changes in their lives. I stay engaged during sessions, sharing insights and asking questions while working collaboratively on goals and treatment plans. I can be direct when needed and am not afraid to challenge clients. My sense of humor often adds to our work together. My approach is centered on improving the lives of those I counsel. Change is not easy, so patience is essential. I offer options for improvement, but clients are encouraged to make their own choices. It's their life, and my goal is to help them recognize what isn't working and move forward, one step at a time. I primarily work with adults, couples, and individuals, focusing on relationship counseling, anger management, conflict resolution, communication skills, divorce counseling, and trauma recovery. My communication style is soft yet clear and direct. I aim to provide support, encouragement, and instill hope throughout our conversations. My journey to mental healthcare began as a client. After my brother took his life many years ago, I needed to talk about it. I respected the counseling process and the help I received, which inspired me to pursue a counseling license. I earned my Master's in Counseling Psychology from Seattle Pacific University. At the end of each session, we establish goals that are reviewed in the following session. I hold my clients accountable for the goals they set. During our first session, clients can expect to learn about the therapy process and have the opportunity to ask questions about therapy or about me as a counselor. We will explore the reasons for seeking therapy, review any past counseling, and begin setting goals and developing an initial treatment plan.
