Paul Wager, LMFT

Psychotherapist
CA
Hi there, I'm Paul! My name is Paul Wager, and I am an LMFT practicing in California. I earned my Master's in Clinical Psychology from Antioch College. My approach to psychotherapy includes understanding my patients within the context of their personal and family history, life circumstances, and strengths and challenges. I have twenty years of experience working with individuals, couples, and families. My clinical focus includes treating depression, anxiety, addiction, and relationship issues. My approach I think it is really important to help patients identify their strengths, learn to cope effectively with life's many challenges, and gain clarity on their goals. The theoretical approaches I favor include cognitive behavioral therapy, existential therapy, and client-centered therapy. My focus I work mainly with adolescents and adults who are seeking help for relationship issues, self-esteem concerns, depression, anxiety, and addiction. I also work with patients coping with grief, looking to maximize their potential, or wanting to gain insight into themselves and improve their quality of life. My communication style I strive to create a safe, non-judgmental environment where clients feel comfortable discussing any thoughts, feelings, behaviors, or issues and receiving honest, empathetic feedback. My journey to mental healthcare I became a therapist because I am fascinated by the human mind and relationships, naturally curious about people, and enjoy helping others improve their quality of life and reach their goals. My goals for you I believe it is very important to allow patients to set their own goals in therapy, and this is something I discuss with every client early in treatment. My first session with you During our initial session, I want to learn as much as I can about your emotional state, current issues, and goals for treatment.
