Paul Wensley, LCSW

Paul Wensley, LCSW

Psychotherapist
CA
I am a Clinical Social Worker with over two decades of experience in mental health. I am a compassionate, skilled, and dynamic therapist. I draw from my personal experience as a gay man, as well as clinical, educational, and practical experience. I understand what it's like to be marginalized and feel different, like you don't belong. I use a non-judgmental, strength-based approach, partly by acknowledging and welcoming your whole person-body, mind, and spirit. I hold a Master's in Social Work from the University of Connecticut and a Bachelor's degree from Humboldt State University. I use a variety of modalities (e.g., Expressive Arts Therapy, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, Somatic Psychotherapy, and Mindfulness), and together we will develop a plan that is best for you. I use Expressive Arts as a way of supporting the therapeutic process by accessing underlying themes and issues in your life, as well as helping you learn new resources to relax and cope. I also use Body or Somatic Therapy approaches to support the therapeutic process and to help with the mind-body connection and how we sometimes hold experiences-sometimes traumatic-in our bodies. When we learn body-focused resources to cope, I can help you live more comfortably in your life. I can help you come to an understanding of yourself: what you need and what you want. Hopefully, you can begin to find more meaning and purpose in your life.
