Haku! Welcome, and thank you for your time and courage to start your dynamic journey of healing through therapy at Turtle House Counseling. Our approach is holistic and systemic, acknowledging the interconnectedness and interrelatedness of the human condition. As a Christian Native American LMFT, I strive to aid my clients with an elevated understanding of the connection between Spirit-Mind-Body-Heart and how each integral component of who we are is impacted by depression, anxiety, by past/ present traumas, ruptured attachments, and daily life stressors. This mindset, combined with empirically based practice, aids individuals, couples, and families to navigate the challenges of life through resilience & strength, peace & balance. Turtle House Counseling supports you during your journey. My approach Turtle House’s approach to therapy is holistic, systemic, interrelated, and interconnected. We honor each person's intrinsic subjective experience at the Spirit-Mind-Body-Heart levels. Our bodies exist within the context of our families, communities, school, and work. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy identifies the thoughts-feelings-actions connection and builds a deeper understanding of internal/ external “triggers” that impact our mental health. Mindfulness strengthens the Mind-Body connection through body awareness, which allows clients to identify, label, and process somatic triggers. Mindfulness also strengthens the Spirit-Mind connection through meditation, positive affirmations, and even prayer work. TF CBT and Bilateral movements aid clients who experience trauma by identifying and labeling maladaptive thought patterns and replacing them with positive ones using Cognitive restructuring and a positive internal narrative. When the trauma is severe, bilateral movements aid clients with processing the trauma in the limbic portion of the brain, where words may not be accessible.
