Portia Harmon, LMHC

Psychotherapist
FL
I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in Florida with a Master’s in Counseling from Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota and a Bachelor’s degree from Saint Catherine University of Minnesota. I have several years of experience providing therapy services, helping clients with stress and anxiety, coping with grief and loss, motivation, self-esteem and confidence, and depression. I believe that you are the expert on your story and that you have many strengths to assist you in overcoming challenges. Taking the first step to sign up for therapy takes courage, and I am proud of you for getting started! My approach As a therapist, I am deeply committed to helping individuals gain a greater understanding of how their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors are interconnected. I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) to guide clients in recognizing and altering patterns of thinking that contribute to emotional distress and unhelpful behaviors, as well as processing trauma experiences. My focus I typically work with clients navigating stress, anxiety, and life transitions, often including burnout, relationship challenges, or self-esteem issues. I also support individuals exploring personal growth, coping with past trauma, or managing depressive symptoms. I’m most comfortable helping clients build emotional resilience, improve coping skills, and foster a healthier mindset. I enjoy working with people who are open to exploring their thoughts and feelings in a collaborative, compassionate way. My communication style When I work with clients, I aim to create a warm, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment. I want people to feel comfortable sharing openly, knowing their thoughts and feelings are respected. I take a collaborative approach, where the client is the expert on their own life, and I’m here to listen, ask thoughtful questions, and offer insights or tools that might help.
