Getting to know Premlata Nikoniuk
Marriage therapy, couples, and individual counseling are my forte. Relationships require work to grow. Several factors, both internal and external to the relationship, may contribute to difficulties and stress between couples. Becoming new parents, infidelity, sexual dissatisfaction, and money problems are common triggers of a shift or tension between partners. Sometimes, untreated individual disorders such as anxiety, anger management, or depression can cause or increase stress and strain on a relationship. Couples counseling is a type of psychotherapy that helps those involved in a romantic relationship gain insight into their interactions, identify negative communication styles, resolve conflict, and find strategies and tools to improve and strengthen the relationship. No matter your age, marital status, or sexual orientation, I tailor treatment to the needs of each unique couple. I pride myself on valuing culture, race, religion, and gender as key components of identity within couples counseling. I hold a Master’s in Clinical Psychology from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology, which has equipped me with the skills and knowledge to provide compassionate and effective care.

More information on payments and coverage
Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.

The provider was 20 minutes late to a 30-minute session. She gave an unacceptable excuse and in a virtual session, she had her camera off with an excuse that she had a covid shot the day before. We had 10 minutes of session. Unbelievable and unprofessional.
