Rachel Karp, LMFT

Psychotherapist
CA
I have been a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in private practice since 2020. I earned my Master's in Marriage and Family Therapy from California State University, Chico. I currently specialize in working with adults ages 20-40 dealing with anxiety, relationship struggles, stress, and attachment issues. Prior to becoming licensed, I worked for three years in a community mental health setting, providing services for severely mentally ill, homeless, and addicted populations. In addition to my private practice, I also work in a substance use rehab facility. My approach I strive to provide high-quality, mindfulness-based services to help people heal on a holistic level. I incorporate CBT, DBT, attachment theory, and feminist approaches into my sessions. One of the greatest joys in life for me is helping others feel whole again-to reconnect the pieces of themselves that have gone neglected so they can live fuller, more nourishing lives. My focus I greatly enjoy working with adults ages 20-40 experiencing stress, anxiety, and relationship issues. I prefer to work with individuals who are eager to learn about themselves and dig deep to start changing their lives. My communication style I am a very interactive therapist and enjoy assigning homework and teaching real-life skills my clients can use daily. Clients and loved ones have described my demeanor as welcoming, nonjudgmental, easygoing, and straightforward. My journey to therapy After working for several years in the outdoor industry, guiding children and adults on backpacking and kayaking adventures, I was drawn to becoming a therapist. I loved helping others face their self-imposed limitations and conquer challenges on the trail, and I felt the skills I learned through that process would be well suited to the therapy room.
