Getting to know Rachel Lawley

My name is Rachel Lawley, LMSW, and I am passionate about supporting individuals as they navigate life’s challenges and discover their inner strength. I believe that everyone deserves a safe, nonjudgmental space to be heard, understood, and supported—and that’s exactly what I strive to provide. I work with clients facing a variety of concerns, including anxiety, depression, stress, relationship challenges, and life transitions. My approach is compassionate, collaborative, and tailored to your unique needs, helping you build practical tools while also exploring deeper patterns that may be impacting your well-being.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Starting therapy can feel like a big step, and it’s completely normal to feel unsure at first. When you work with me, you can expect a welcoming, supportive, and judgment-free space where you can be yourself. My approach is collaborative and client-centered, which means we’ll work together to understand your goals and move at a pace that feels comfortable for you. I take time to truly listen and get to know you—not just your challenges, but your strengths as well. I often use a blend of evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), solution-focused techniques, and strengths-based practices. This allows us to not only explore what’s been weighing on you, but also build practical tools you can use in your daily life.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Our work together begins with an initial session where I take time to get to know you—your background, current concerns, and what brings you to therapy. We’ll talk through your goals and what you’re hoping to gain from our time together, and you’re always welcome to share at your own pace. From there, we’ll collaborate to create a plan that feels supportive and realistic for you. Each session typically lasts about 45–60 minutes and may include open conversation, exploring thoughts and emotions, and learning practical coping skills you can apply in your daily life. I tailor each session to your unique needs, but you can generally expect a balance of: Processing current challenges and experiences Identifying patterns in thoughts, behaviors, and relationships Building tools and strategies to manage stress, anxiety, or other concerns Tracking progress and adjusting goals as needed
