Rachel Valencia, LMFT

Psychotherapist
CA
Hi there, I'm Rachel! Hello, my name is Rachel Valencia, and I have been a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist for 6 years, with 10 years of practice overall. I earned my Master's in Counseling from the University of Phoenix. My therapeutic approach stems from a statement made by one of my graduate school professors: "Therapy is just a conversation between two people." My approach I use a client-centered approach both for myself and to help the people I work with feel more comfortable. I originally became a therapist because I understood the help needed through multiple challenges in my own life. People struggle with many things, and having this "safe conversation" can be very beneficial. I believe change happens when we are listened to, understood, and validated. My focus My therapeutic approach centers on helping others increase self-awareness, understand common challenges, and recognize the benefits of setting healthy boundaries. I also focus on helping people "get to know themselves" by learning to identify needs, feelings, and negative thought patterns, as well as developing effective coping strategies that build personal and emotional strength along the way. My communication style As mentioned above, my communication style is based on the idea that "Therapy is just a conversation between two people." I am human too, so I will laugh with you and cry with you, while most importantly assisting you in developing healthier strategies to navigate through life.
