Welcome! My name is Rafael Gomez, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) based in Los Angeles, California. I hold a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from California State University, Fullerton. Coming to therapy can be a great, if sometimes daunting, step to take at any point in our lives. Oftentimes, there is so much noise that it becomes incredibly difficult to identify the things that truly matter to us. I aim to help you reconnect with that part of yourself that seems to be missing. If you are feeling lost, anxious about your direction in life, or just not as connected with those around you, I am here to help. I specialize in treating men who are struggling with anxiety, trauma, grief and loss, and relationship issues. Additionally, I have extensive experience helping parents manage the unique stressors they face and ultimately reconnect with their individuality.

What should a new client know about working with you?

During our first session, we can expect to spend much of our time sharing what we have been feeling before coming to therapy. I'll be asking questions to better understand your experience and to help us get a sense of the direction we can take. This first session is for us to build a connection and shared understanding of how we can work together. Throughout this whole process, you are the expert of your lived experience. I know that therapy can be a vulnerable space, and I hope for us to build trust and openness for us to work on the things that matter to you the most. In our therapy sessions, I do my best to facilitate a space where you can explore and delve deeper into your true self and begin to act in a congruent manner and line with your values.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
