Getting to know Raisa Stinson

I am a licensed mental health counselor in Massachusetts with extensive experience in trauma-focused therapy. I have worked extensively with couples, helping partners improve communication and rekindle their love for each other. I also love working with families, supporting parents and children in enhancing communication and becoming closer. Additionally, I have experience working with adopted children and adoptive families. I am proficient in body-based approaches developed by Bessel van der Kolk, Peter Levine, and their colleagues. I am certified as an EMDR therapist. EMDR is a cutting-edge approach to treating severe trauma, including complex trauma, which is defined as the accumulation of “relatively insignificant” traumatic events throughout life. My experience is international. Although all my psychology degrees and training were completed in the USA, I have lived and worked in several culturally diverse countries. This has given me a strong understanding of the challenges involved in adjusting to a new culture, as well as navigating cultural differences with friends and family members-parents, spouses or romantic partners, and even your own children. At this time, I am unable to provide in-person sessions; I will be meeting with you via video. I plan to offer in-person sessions in the future.

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
