Rakiya Ruiz, LCSW

Rakiya Ruiz, LCSW

Psychotherapist
CA
I'm an LCSW with over 8 years of clinical experience and a background of over 11 years in law enforcement, including crisis intervention as a Victims Advocate. That combination of real-world crisis work and clinical training shapes everything about how I practice. I work with adults and couples navigating sleep problems, relationship challenges, trauma, anxiety, depression, life transitions, and suicidal ideation. As a queer therapist of color, I provide affirming care for 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals, BIPOC clients, and those in all relationship structures, and I welcome clients from all backgrounds and walks of life. I bring specialized training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), CBT for Insomnia, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for Couples, Written Exposure Therapy for PTSD, and the Collaborative Assessment and Management for Suicidality (CAMS), alongside a genuine warmth and curiosity about the people I work with. My approach is collaborative and structured when it counts, but always grounded in making sure you feel seen and not just treated. You don't have to have it all figured out before you reach out. You just need to be ready to try something different.
