Randi Nowell, LMFT

Psychotherapist
1849 Austin Bluffs Unit 150, Colorado Springs, CO
Hi there! I'm Randi Nowell, a passionate LMFT specializing in providing therapy for children, adolescents and young adults. With extensive experience in working with autism spectrum disorder, I am committed to making a positive impact on the lives of young individuals. I have a deep connection to working with military dependents. I, myself, was a military dependent growing up and later as a spouse. No one can truly understand the toll it takes to be a military child or military spouse unless they have lived it themselves. I know how scary and conflicting it can be to have people constantly tell you to be strong for the service member in your life, but who is being strong for you? I also work with neurodivergency, LGBTQ+ individuals, anxiety, self-harm and suicidal ideation, grief, parent training, depression, and individuals who have experienced bullying, abuse, or assault. I work with children, teens, and young adults struggling with eating disorders, as well.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I create a safe and supportive environment where clients can explore their emotions and experiences. Analogies play a significant role in my work, as I use them to simplify complex concepts and facilitate comprehension.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I tailor my therapeutic approach to each individual, incorporating systemic and cognitive behavioral approaches to create treatment plans that best fit each person's unique needs. No two people are the same, so why should therapy be? To me, therapy is a tool to help you discover who you are as a person and build the skills you need to become the person you want to be underneath all of the challenges. We will laugh and cry, make jokes, and learn new tools, all while creating an inviting environment that feels like a place you want to return to. I empower them to navigate challenges, build resilience, and discover their inner strengths by using evidence based approaches such as Cognitive-Behavioral Family Therapy(CBFT) and Narrative Therapy. Play therapy is also an integral part of my practice. I firmly believe in the power of play as a medium for healing and growth. Through interactive and imaginative play sessions, I establish a connection with my young clients, helping them express themselves, develop coping skills, and gain a deeper understanding of their thoughts and feelings.
