Psychotherapist

My approach to therapy is grounded in the belief that everyone is doing their very best, even when it may not feel that way. Life can be challenging, and at times, we all need help navigating mental and emotional health — and that’s okay. I am here to accompany you on your journey toward better mental health, providing support, understanding, and a safe space to explore your thoughts and feelings without judgment. In my practice, I primarily draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT). By addressing both thoughts and behaviors, we can create meaningful change in how clients experience and navigate their lives. CBT helps clients identify and challenge unhelpful thinking patterns and replace them with healthier, more realistic thoughts. This cognitive restructuring reduces distress and improves emotional well-being. I also use SFT, which is goal-oriented and future-focused, to help clients build on their strengths and resources. By focusing on solutions and what’s working, we cultivate hope and develop practical strategies to move forward. In addition to CBT and SFT, I incorporate interventions from other modalities when appropriate. These may include Narrative Therapy, which allows clients to reframe their life stories and see themselves as authors of their own experiences. By exploring and reinterpreting their narratives, clients develop agency and empowerment. I also use Gestalt Therapy techniques to encourage awareness of present thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, fostering greater self-awareness and emotional insight. This helps in understanding how past experiences influence current behavior and relationships. I hold a PhD in Rehabilitation Counseling from The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley and an MEd in Counseling Psychology and Guidance from The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley Brownsville Campus. My goal is to provide comprehensive, compassionate care tailored to each individual's unique needs.
