Rebecca Bautista, LMFT

Psychotherapist
CA
If you're ready to start working on yourself and the difficulties you are facing lately, I'm here to work with you. Together we can identify your goals and establish a treatment plan that can help your mental health improve. I use CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy) to help clients have a better understanding of their thought processes, feelings, and behaviors. I will also help clients learn how to reframe negative distortions to help improve their mood. I like to work in collaboration with clients in developing a treatment plan and treatment goals based on each client's symptoms and behaviors. I have experience working with children, adolescents, and adults who are experiencing depression, anxiety, PTSD, oppositional defiant disorder, conduct disorder, life transitions, and self-esteem issues.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I like to explore by asking open-ended questions to get a better understanding of what can be impacting your mental health. I engage in active listening by reflecting feelings back to clients and validating their emotions. Showing the client unconditional positive regard is important for me as a therapist. I like to be honest, clear, and an educator if teaching skills that clients may be lacking. Becoming a marriage and family therapist was always a dream of mine as I found this career to be rewarding and meaningful. Having the opportunity to work with individuals, families, and couples in need is important to me and is something I look forward in doing daily.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Therapy can be challenging for many people as it is difficult to know where to begin. I believe setting SMART goals is extremely important in one's treatment plan. Knowing what you want to achieve and work on in therapy sets clear expectations and can be helpful in identifying one's progress. Our first session will be focused on getting to know each other and we will discuss more about the reason why you are in therapy. I understand therapy can be intimidating and uncomfortable for you, but you're not alone in this journey as I will be guiding you through the process of therapy.
