Are you having intrusive thoughts or emotions that are hard to stop or distract from? Are you prone to pleasing others and feel the stress of caretaking? We can work together to help you better understand how the mind and body impact your behavior and get you back to feeling more in control. Whether you are dealing with anxiety, including obsessive compulsive disorder, perfectionism and social anxiety, traumatic stress (PTSD), depression, grief & loss, relationship issues or life transitions, I can help you better understand how things impact you and figure out the best way to address these concerns to find some relief. My counseling style is person-centered focusing on improving emotional regulation and building resiliency to stressful events. I utilize EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) therapy to help process past traumatic experiences. I also have experience working with the LGBTQ+ population, including sexual and gender identity concerns. It can be very intimidating to start counseling. My goal is to provide a safe and open space for you to explore your thoughts, feelings and impulses in order for you to heal and move forward. I want you to feel heard, understood, and supported in sessions. I look forward to working with you.

What should a new client know about working with you?

In the first session I often focus on personal and family history. I think it is important to get to know you so that your therapy can be more customizable. After the first intake session, the real counseling can begin. Together, we will develop goals for you to address and each session will start with "What would you like to focus on today? My biggest strength is helping people resolve and heal trauma and grief. I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy and use EMDR to process trauma, reduce anxiety, especially social anxiety, obsessive thoughts and heal past wounds. I am a person-centered therapist that likes to focus on a client's strengths. I also use Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to address mindfulness, emotional regulation, distress tolerance and interpersonal relationships.
